My Thirty Before Thirty List

Here are thirty things that I want to accomplish before I turn thirty in 6 years! @thefeliciarenee

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of thirty before thirty lists and it inspired me to make one as well. I have vaguely chosen some bucket list items that I’d like to complete and a lot of them I have. Like, learning a different language, living overseas, seeing a Broadway play, and climbing the Great Wall of China. Those are just a few of the many things I’ve done during my twenty-three years here on earth. Since I’ll turn twenty-four in two months, I thought now would be the perfect time to figure out what all I’d like to accomplish over the next six years before I turn thirty!

Here are thirty things that I want to accomplish before I turn thirty in 6 years! @thefeliciarenee

my thirty before thirty list:

1 | read one hundred books in a year

I tried this goal last year and failed miserably, but I didn’t have a plan. I want to tackle it again and accomplish it!

2 | visit all fifty states

Currently I’ve traveled to a little over twenty states and the vast majority of them alone. I enjoy solo travel, but I want to go to every single state and mail myself a postcard home instead of collecting magnets like I have been. I no longer like this collection, but it’s okay. I’ll just have to start over.

3 | define my values & where i stand politically

I know what I believe and value, but there a lot of policies that I just don’t care that much about (to be honest). However, I’d like to hone in on exactly where I stand on every single issue since they effect all of us.

4 | buy a house or condo

After being myself a new car, I really want to buy property.

5 | run a 5k

At first it was my goal to complete a 5k before I turn 25, which I have done. But now, I want to take it a step further by running the entire 5k. This is a crazy goal for me because I hate running.

6 | get my yoga teacher training license

I’ve been wanting to get this since I fell in love with yoga my junior year of college. I recently picked it up again and I’m inspired once again to develop my practice on a deeper level.

7 | host a dinner party

Well, I don’t enjoy cooking, or planning parties. So why not make a goal doing two things that I’m ehh about and learning to get out of my comfort zone and enjoy them.

8 | go to a festival

The only one I can think of it is Coachella, but I don’t think I’ll ever go to that.

9 | go on a west coast road trip

I’ve wanted to do this since I graduated from college.

10 | enjoy cooking & have my go-to recipes

Like, I mentioned above – I want to learn to enjoy cooking. It also won’t hurt to save some money by cooking at home.

11 | write a physical book

If you didn’t know, I wrote an ebook! It’s called: A Guide To Minimalistic Living. You can get it here also it’s free! This is a short ebook that includes actionable and easy ways to simplify your life. I want to expand this ebook into a larger, physical book.

12 | visit Toronto

I’ve been to Vancouver and I fell in love with it, so next I want to go to Toronto. Maybe I’ll go when I visit Maine, or a surrounding state.

13 | improve my photography skills

I’ve loved photography since I was about ten years old and now that I blog. I want to improve my photography skills even more.

14 | paint as a hobby

I used to love to paint and lately I’ve gotten the urge to paint all of the artwork in my space.

15 | take a pottery class

Need I say more?

16 | define my personal style

I love having a simple and minimal style. I paired down my wardrobe and bought a few pieces that worked well. However, this past year I got a new job so I needed more professional clothing and I feel like my wardrobe is now all over the place. So, I’d like to have a defined list of what I want and begin to curate that.

17 | go on a yoga retreat

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while before getting my YTT license.

18 | get to know my family history

I’ve been curious about this for a while now and I’d like to develop a deeper understanding of it.

19 | have a spa day

This is currently my plan for my 24th birthday, so this is almost crossed off the list!

20 | create a 5/10/25 year savings plan

I have savings goals for the year, but I want to expand beyond that.

21 | plant a tree

I had the opportunity to do this, or climb the Great Wall of China when I was studying abroad in Beijing. I bet you can tell, which one I chose.

22 | learn the basics of auto mechanics

I’ve been curious to learn more about how cars work.

23 | learn how to keep plants alive

I kill all plants, but I want to gain my mom’s green thumb when it comes to keeping houseplants alive.

24 | have a staycation weekend in my hometown

I would like to stay the night at one of the hotels in my hometown, try some restaurants I’ve never been too, and go to some stores I haven’t previously. I’ll also write a post on this when I do it!

25 | define my ideal version of minimal living

If you’ve read my post on why I live simply & minimally, you’ll get an idea about why I started living this way. However, I’d like to hone in on my goals for living minimally going forward.

26 | attend a blogger conference

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. I just need to plan to go to one and do it. Also, it would be great to go to one in a state I’ve never been too to check a state off the list as well!

27 | completely understand investing/stocks

I understand the basics of investing since I have done so myself. But I’d like a broader understanding of the ins/outs of investments.

28 | go to a NY Giants game

If you didn’t know, I’m a crazy New York Giants fan and football is my love! I would love to go to one of their games at home in NJ and check that state off my list as well. I went to New York, but I didn’t get a chance to go to New Jersey.

29 | improve my time management skills

I’ve been really into time management and productivity lately so I can blog consistently and so far so good, but I want to get even better!

30 | write out my full bucket list

I have an idea of what’s on my bucket list, but I want it written down so I can start accomplishing everything on the list!

  • I love a lot of the things on your list and have some similar ones. I made a thirty before thirty list about 3 years ago, but I need to go back and update it. I turn 30 in about 3 months so there’s not much time left!

    • Oh that’s exciting! You should see what you’ve accomplished!

  • Kristen Jones

These are all such amazing ideas for a before 30 list! I’m with ya on wanting to buy a house! I want to write a list like this now. I think it would be so fun to cross them all off!

    • I know, I can’t wait to see what all I accomplish by then and write about it!

  • I love this list! I also want to run a 5k or at least develop a better and more consistent exercise regiment. I used to run and I miss it so much! Thank you for sharing!

  • This is such a great list! Visiting all 50 states is something I want to do too!

    • Thanks! Right! I can’t wait when I reach my 50th.

  • Katherine

I love this list! I wrote about 7 trips to take before 30, but I need a more “lifestyle” bucket list before 30. 🙂 Going on a road trip, defining my personal style, and keeping plants alive would all be on mine, too! Haha, but as I get older, I definitely have more and more financial goals and traveling goals. They don’t always work out well together, but that’s life’s balance, right?!

    • Exactly! I personally feel like travel should be apart of it. I would rather spend money on experiences than things. & I’ll have to check out your post!

  • I love this because it gives you enough time to get it done! This is a pretty hefty list but since you’re starting now, I believe you can get it done.
I also love the idea about traveling and sending yourself postcards. I want to do that! That’s brilliant! 🙂

    • Thanks! I’m trying to figure out how I want to do the postcard thing in all of the states I’ve already visited, but regardless I’m excited!

  • Amanda

I love the idea of a hometown staycation! I might have to add it to my own 30 before 30 list…

…which I better get moving on making since I just turned 29!

    • Yes, do it! It’s always nice to explore your hometown. You can always make a 40 before 40, or 35 before 35!
