10 Gift Ideas for the Minimalist in Your Life

This holiday season is a little peculiar, I must say. There’s so much going on in the world, but I figured it’s time to spread some holiday cheer. I’m usually not the biggest fan of Christmas decorating, but this year I’ve decided to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the little things. No matter what is going on in the world around us, there is so much to be thankful for!

Like, many people, I’m the type of person that when I want something – I buy it. I usually don’t enjoy receiving gifts, but I’m trying to be better and appreciate the thought behind them. As someone that strives to live an intentional life, I only want the things that I ask for to be what I need instead of a bunch of random stuff I’ll never use. I also don’t want anyone that gives me a gift to feel like they are obligated to do so.

When you’re buying a gift for a minimalist, it’s good to think about what they need and won’t buy, or something they’ll need no matter what like body care, or a gift card for gas. Don’t give them things as a way to consume with no purpose just because it’s Christmas.

Don’t give just to consume, give them things that they need, or are tangible.

10 gift ideas for the minimalist in your life:

1 | skincare and/or body care products

I love skincare and body care, especially body scrubs, body oils, creams, and a good face serum. This is a practical gift that everyone could and would use up. Also, if you or someone you know would like to try Harry’s Razors. They gave me a code for y’all to use a while back and it still works! You can get a starter kit for only $5, by clicking this link. I do love this razor, and it would be a great gift to give someone, as well.

2 | a good book

I used to be an avid reader. Especially during the beginning of social distancing and all. I flew through about four books and knew I’d hit my goal for the year. Spoiler – I’m nowhere close, but that’s okay. I’ve gotten back into the habit recently to read a few chapters before bed and I’m enjoying it. I’m still going to try to hit my goal, but if I don’t there’s always next year!

Here are a few suggestions:

3 | faux leather tech gloves

When it’s cold out and you also need to check something on your phone, a pair of tech gloves do the trick. I have a pair from Target that are so cute and I love them. I even lost one on a plane ride a while back and when I landed I went straight to Target to get a new pair. They’re a great gift for someone that lives in a colder climate.

4 | a gift card

Need I say more? But really, a gift card to their favorite store, gas station, or grocery store is a great option that you can never go wrong with!

5 | a candle

Who doesn’t love candles!? They smell good, they’re great for every mood and season, and they are such a great thing to use if you want to relax. I love a good soy candle, like this one especially because they’re more environmentally friendly.

6 | essential oils

Essential oils are my favorite to diffuse, especially when I want to relax. They can be used for stress management, to help you sleep better, and so much more. My personal favorites are lavender, peppermint, and tea tree for their calming and antiseptic properties.

7 | their favorite sweet treat

The holidays are notorious for sweet treats to be all around and I’d have to say, I do enjoy it at times. This gift is great for the person that just wants some homemade fudge, or baked cookies.

8 | donate to a charity in their name

One great way to take part in helping others is by donating to a charity or cause they care about in their name. You can give them a gift card (like this one) for charity donations that they are able to use it towards whatever charity they are passionate about. You could also give them a certificate showing that you donated on their behalf.

9 | a fuzzy robe or socks

Comfy, cozy clothes are a must! They are for me especially right now with being home so much. A nice fuzzy robe, or some fuzzy socks when I’m chilling in the evening is so nice.

10 | a sherpa blanket

I love blankets. I have way too many and no, it is not one place where I ever think I will minimize. A sherpa blanket is the perfect thing to snuggle up in this holiday season. They’re perfect for your couch, bed, to let guests use, or for a plane ride.
