Felicia’s Five Favorites | April 2017

I must say, it feels pretty good to be back. Have you caught up on my latest posts? If not, you can here and here. One thing I wanted to do this year was to start series. I want to redo my minimalist series from before – the posts are gone, so don’t look for them. But I also wanted to start telling y’all about all the things I’ve been loving lately.

So, I’ve decided to start a series about my five favorites from the past month. I’ll post five things on the last Friday of each month detailing something to read, something to smell, something to wear, something to listen to, and something to try.  I’ve been wanting to start this series for a while, but haven’t gotten around to it. However, I’ve finally narrowed down the five things I’d like to discuss each month to make these posts short and sweet!

My five favorites for April 2017. There is something to read, something to smell, something to wear, something to listen to and something to try.

my five favorites from april

something to read: 52 Lists For Happiness by Moorea Seal

I’ve been writing in this book for the past four months every single Saturday evening. I chose Saturday because there are fifty-two Saturdays in 2017 – that way I won’t miss a day. There are great journal prompts in this book and short excerpts to read. If you haven’t flipped through one of these little journals then you’re missing out!

something to smell: hand creams

I have been obsessed with Crabtree & Evelyn ever since I went to an outlet mall and walked past a store that smelt glorious. I walked inside and found out that they use a lot of natural ingredients in their products. Like Shea butter, honey, macadamia nut oil,  Vitamin E, and a whole lot more! Their hand creams don’t include lauryl sulfates, mineral oil, parabens, or propylene glycol, which is even better!

I have extremely sensitive skin and so many things irritate me easily. However, these hand creams don’t irritate my dry, sensitive hands at all.

something to wear: comfy tees

Lately, I’ve been pretty obsessed with throwing on some black leggings and a comfy tee from American Eagle. It’s an easy go-to while working from home. AE is possibly my favorite store and a pretty affordable option, in my opinion. They have very cute and comfy plain tees along with tees that have short sayings on them. Graphic or plain tees with leggings or jeans has been my go-to style lately.

something to listen to: the hey, girl podcast

hey, girl – is a podcast created by Alex Elle, who is an amazing poet and author. She is big on self-love, self-care, and the empowerment of women. I first ran across her work when I was looking up artists that discuss self-care. Her podcast is all about women sharing real, candid stories about their life from grief to minimalism.

something to try: pale pink nail polish

I’m trying to add more color to my life. I’m mainly known for wearing all black, or gray. However, I’m trying to add pale earth tones to my style and wardrobe. For me, wearing a pale pink polish on my toes is a start. Two nail brands that I love are Zoya and Essie since their products are free of the big three toxins in nail polish: dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde, and toluene. However, Zoya is free of a few more toxins than Essie.

Regardless, if I’m going to wear nail polish I’d like to diminish the amount of toxins that I am putting on my body. Likewise, it’s sandal season, it is time for me to add a speck of color to my life!
