Felicia’s Five Favorites | July 2017

July has flown by so fast and I feel like I wasn’t able to keep up. I wasn’t super consistent with new posts on every Monday and Friday like I hoped, but life happens. However, I’ve been planning this for a while and I’ve decided to do Blogtober! I’m really excited about it and it should be great! I haven’t decided if this means new posts every day during October, or every other day. But I hope to decide very soon I’ll keep you updated during next month’s favorites’ post.

I have also created a new series: Living Minimally! I’ll have a post up soon all about what this series will consist of, so look out for it! Also, I’m in the process of revamping my newsletter. I’m planning for it to come out in September along with an updated version of my free ebook, A Guide To Minimalistic Living! Sign up here so you don’t miss out!

my five favorites from july:

something to read: an article about hustling versus listening to your heart

The Hustle vs Heart from The Elysian Edit is a super quick read and a good one! It is all about why we chase the hustle instead of truly defining what success is to each one of us. I definitely believe that being busy does not mean that you are successful. Success is what you determine it to be and it is based on hard work and results – not burnout. I learned this from burning out and taking some time to do some self-care to get to the root of it all.

something to smell: essential oils

I have always loved essential oils since I first found out about them a few years ago. But recently, I got a diffuser (which came with four oils!) and I’ve been loving diffusing lemon and tea tree essential oils. Lemon is great for it’s air purification and digestive benefits. And tea tree is great for it’s antibacterial, antiviral, and health benefits. Mixing the two is a nice soothing aroma that I love to diffuse in my room when I need to relax.

This diffuser essential oil set is only $9.99 and such a steal! I love it and use it almost every single day. Also, it doesn’t need water!

something to wear: face masks

If you’ve read any of my latest beauty posts, you’d know that I love face masks. They’ve truly taken my skincare routine to another level. I love how hydrating and nourishing some can be. They also make my skin feel super soft, which is another bonus! Some of my favorites include this Nugg Hydrating Face Mask and the Freeman’s Charcoal and Black Sugar Face Mask – I use these on a weekly basis. I also enjoy trying out sheet masks and my current favorite is the Kocostar Deep Hydration Face Mask. I also have so many in my bathroom that I’m just waiting to try! I think I’ll be doing a face mask collection very soon!

something to listen to: let’s discuss podcast

I first read Monica’s blog The Elgin Avenue a few months ago when I was rebranding my site and I fell in love with it. She writes very personal and intentional posts. Also, she’s such a nice person based on our Instagram convos. And when I found out that she had a podcast I knew I’d have to listen to it!

Her podcast, Let’s Discuss is with her friend Ella Gregory from Coco’s Tea Party. They discuss all things life, love, work, and wellbeing in such a relatable well. They also discuss ways they have evolved while navigating their twenties, so it’s such a great relatable podcast for me. I mean, how many times can I say relatable in this paragraph? haha

Regardless, this is a must listen for some lighthearted chats from two friends that just understand what you go through during your twenties. Also, season two just began!

something to try: journaling consistently

I did the 100 day project that ended a few weeks ago and it was a great experience! It taught me a lot about my own writing style and so much more. You can read more about what the project consists of and what I learned during the process here.
