Four Ways To Simplify Your Week

During the beginning of the new year, every person is trying to stick to their new year’s resolutions. I don’t know about you, but I’m doing pretty well with mine so far – which is really nice! The beginning of the new year is also a great time to work on simplifying your life (or week). Below are a few quick and easy tips that you can incorporate into your every day life and start to minimize aspects that are overwhelming.

four ways to simplify your week:

1 | use a capsule wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe encompasses a certain amount of pieces that you only wear during a particular season. Such as thirty-five pieces that you’d only wear during your season of choice.

Capsule wardrobes are a great way to minimize “what to wear” stress and it helps to be able to quickly choose what you would like to wear. I have never created a capsule wardrobe before, but I am fond of the idea. I am considering creating one this spring.

These wardrobes are great because they simplify one great thing in your life that you deal with every single day and week: clothing.

2 | less tv, more reading

I have been trying to limit the amount of television that I watch. I am considering getting of rid of the only television service I have: Hulu. Because I feel like I waste too much time each week watching television instead of doing something more fulfilling, like reading. I love to read. I always have and hopefully always will.

Most television shows are comprised of things that do not improve your life, or uplift you at all. Personally, I think that reading books are so much better. There is so much that you can gain by reading. You can get lost in a fairytale, or read a lot of self-help books to improve your life. If you struggle with reading a lot, I’ve written a post about how to read more. Another great tactic is to take part in Audible so you can listen to audiobooks while exercising, or getting ready in the morning.

3 | declutter

Decluttering is a great way to simplify your week. You can begin with your wardrobe and get rid of items that you don’t use or wear. Then you can start working on creating a capsule wardrobe too. I’m going through a seasonal period again where I am working on refreshing my wardrobe. By getting rid of items that I don’t wear and making a list of items I would like to add to my wardrobe.

The best way to have a simple and relaxing week is to get rid of unwanted items! You could even begin by decluttering your kitchen, so you spend more time cooking instead of eating out (something I’m currently doing). You’ll feel so much better when your living spaces no longer have unneeded clutter.

4 | get into a routine

Productivity is key for you to have a simpler and better week. Routines are great because they help with structure and getting things done. I am currently working on a better workout, sleep, and daily routine. I travel a lot so it’s hard to stick to the same type of routine every single day.

Also, I use a lot of my time on the weekend to work on this blog, so I can stay consistent. I like routines because I am able to plan and include as much structure in my schedule as possible. My weekend routine is great since it helps me take time out for myself and get things done.

Thanks this is very helpful. I tried capsule wardrobe but it wasn’t for me. I like to experiment more. But the other 3 ways to simplify your life I love.

Ahh, I understand! Decluttering is just as effective as a capsule wardrobe!

I would love to do a capsule wardrobe for myself and my children! It seems like we all wear the same few key pieces anyway, so I’m not sure why I have all these extra clothes!

Ha, I get that! That sounds exciting, and you’ll know what exactly you need/don’t need.

The Capsule Wardrobe works for me. I call it my minimalist uniform. Like Steve Jobs (Black Turtle Neck and Jeans) it consists of 5 pants and 5 shirts all the same. I wear that most of the time. It makes getting dressed and shopping quick and easy. LOL.
