Life Lately & An Update On My 2018 Resolutions

I am definitely having fall fever right now. All I want is autumnal scents, the leaves to change, and the ability to wear oversized sweatshirts out in public. But Kentucky has proved to me once again that September just means more humidity and hot 80+ degree weather.

I’ve taken a lot of creative breaks since I started this blog and it was all because I wanted everything that I posted to be perfect. But I’ve learned a lot lately that life isn’t perfect, nothing is at all. Life is way to short to worry about things that just don’t matter. We change so much from college to post grad, etc. and there’s so much you learn about yourself and life as a whole.

My word for this year has been breathe

I may write a post all about what it has taught me and how I’ve used it, but for now I’m currently using it to push through the rest of this year. And focus on the resolutions that I set for myself so I can feel accomplished.

my realistic new years resolutions:

1 | USE MY GYM MEMBERSHIP WITHIN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS, OR CANCEL IT. // Well, this is pretty ironic. Because I paid for one more month in February and realized I wasn’t going to use my membership, so I canceled it. Then after about two more months I bought a new membership at a higher level with more perks. So, long story short – I should have kept the membership or upgraded it.

2 | DRINK MORE WATER. // I’ve gotten so much better at this. I was using an app called Waterlogged, which helped me track my daily water intake. But I forgot to log how much I was drinking so I stopped using the app. I still drink around the daily recommended 64oz each day and if I don’t, I can feel it.

3 | LIMIT HOW MUCH PAPER I USE. // I only use paper when necessary, like when I’m at work. Otherwise, I don’t really use it and I refrain from printing anything if I don’t need too. So this goal is going great, so far.

4 | READ MORE BOOKS. // I bought an iPad and downloaded the Kindle app, which has helped me read a lot more than I was initially. I plan to read 12 books this year and I’m almost halfway there. I’m able to keep track of what I’m reading by using Goodreads otherwise I’d definitely forget. I read about three books in one week so that definitely helped. I’m going to try to read a book every week or two. So hopefully that will get me to my goal. I’ll definitely share what I’ve read when the year ends.

5 | MAKE MORE SAVINGS GOALS. // I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, but I haven’t acted on it. So I think this is giving me more of a reason to start making more actionable savings goals for this year, next year, the next five, and ten years. It is also something that I included in my 30 before 30 list that I want to achieve!

6 | STICK TO A NIGHT TIME ROUTINE. // I have a pretty straightforward and structured night time routine and I plan on writing a post all about it soon. So stay tuned…

my 2018 blog resolutions:

1 | HAVE NEW POSTS TWICE A WEEK ON MONDAYS & THURSDAYS. // Well, I think we all know how well that’s going. I enjoy having a post go up on Fridays anyways. Since you’ll have the weekend to read it. I want to get back to posting on Tuesdays and Fridays, but for now. I think once a week (on Fridays) is a lot better than nothing at all.

2 | HAVE MORE MINIMAL MONDAYS POSTS. // Well, I’m not sure if I want to continue this series, but it is one of my resolutions that I’d like to continue. Even though there was only one post on it and the response was great. I have a few more ideas and if y’all are interested in it – I will definitely continue it! So please let me know in the comments below!

3 | FELICIA’S FLYER: MY MONTHLY NEWSLETTER THAT IS SENT OUT EVERY MONTH. // This newsletter has tripled in the amount of people that are subscribed since the whole GDPR compliance, which is great for me! I haven’t quit this, but I am changing it to being sent out on the first Friday of each month. So the newsletter will go out at 8am, which is an hour after this post is live!

I definitely have fall-fever right now too! And I agree, I really want to stick to my nightly routine better!

I like that you mention having a routine. I feel like most of our successes in life are found within our habits!

I agree. I feel like every post that has “successful habits” in the title always mentions routines too.

I like the idea of logging how much water we drink, but I think I would forget too.

Well, the cool thing about the waterlogged app is that you can set reminders on your phone. That’s how I remembered, but sometimes I still didn’t do it when I was busy at work.

I love having a great nighttime routine too! Try the MiO drops if you want to drink more water – I’m a total water lover, but I have friends who have used those to drink more!
