2017 was the year of buying endless beauty products: body care, skincare, and a few makeup products. Your skin is your body’s largest organ so I believe that you should take care of it. I truly indulged when it came to body care and enjoyed trying every single item. I tried my best to stick to buying toiletries minimally, but I wanted to find products that truly work for my skin in order to buy less of them.
After a lot of trial and error and returning multiple products back to TJ Maxx. I found a few amazing products that I love and a few of them I’ve repurchased already. I have ran out of the products that are not pictured below and will purchase them again very soon!
the beauty products i tried in 2017 & loved:
Last year, I truly fell in love with First Aid Beauty. They have some amazing products that are not talked about enough, like their Ultra Repair Gentle Cleansing Bar. This bar of soap is amazing! It soothes my sensitive skin and makes it feel so soft and not stripped, like most soaps do. I like to use this soap, or a body oil wash like the Glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash. I tried this when I was in New York and bought one to ship back to my house. Oil washes are great for after you’ve exfoliated your entire body so it will feel moisturized. The body scrub that I’m loving is the Shea Moisture Green Tea & Olive Hand and Body Scrub. I believe I’ve purchased this product about five or six times!
I’m still looking for my holy grail body cream. But for now, I’m loving one from Lush that I forgot about, so we’ll see if that makes the cut! Until then, I like to use a multi-purpose balm in addition to body lotions. The one I’m currently obsessed with is The Body Shop’s Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm. I like to use this balm on my feet, elbows, and knees when they get extremely dry. I also love to use Kocostar Nail Therapy masks, when I feel like my nails need a little bit of love.
Last year, I didn’t play around with skincare as much as I usually do. I was sent some products from Lumene’s Klassikko collection and I loved trying them. Lumene is a skincare brand from Finland and the Klassikko collection includes nordic ingredients, like Nordic Cotton Grass and Pure Arctic Spring Water. What’s cool about this brand is that it is available at most local Walmarts and online, so it is easily accessible. (NOT SPONSORED!)
The items I liked most and I’m continuing to use are Lumene’s Purifying Gel Face Wash, which is becoming a skincare staple. I am also enjoying their restoring night cream and nurturing eye cream, which is interesting because I usually prefer an eye gel. But I do love these products and they fit seamlessly into my routine and do not irritate my sensitive skin at all!
The face mask that I’m currently loving is the Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask. If you haven’t tried this, stop what you’re doing and buy it now! It is so gentle and it makes your skin super smooth and feel like you just drank 64 ounces of water. I love this mask and it is now apart of my weekly skincare routine.
Another product I picked up while I was in New York was the Fresh Sugar Lip Caramel kit. It recently launched when I was there so they were running a special. I was able to get the lip caramel hydrating balm, a smaller version of the balm, the Sugar Lip Polish, and the Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment. This was a $70 value, but I got it for $40! And I love the entire kit. I know that I will repurchase the lip balm and lip polish when I run out.
As usual, I didn’t try much makeup. I did like the Haloscopes from Glossier, but not enough to purchase them. I might give them another try this year. I was able to switch to a more natural mascara. I am currently loving all of they Physican’s Formula mascaras and when I run out of one, I purchase a different kind. My eyelashes aren’t long so I know that mascara is just something I enjoy, not really a way to make them look longer. My everyday lip balm has also become the Nivea lip balms. I like the Original Moisture Lip Balm and the Smoothness Lip Balm with SPF 15. They are both very moisturizing and the only lip balms (other than Fresh) that have soothed my dry lips.
